There’s a Biff solo show this month in Glasgow as guest of open mic buddy and new honorary Glaswegian Mr Jamie Hay (May 24th at Tchai Ovna). Full band show confirmed for Glasgow on Friday June 29th at the Captain’s Rest and we hope to soon confirm news of an Edinburgh show around then too. We continue to beaver away at the demos for the album, close to a final song choice. Close but no cigar as yet. It’s uphill all the way, and that’s on a good day.

Show this Friday, 6th April. It is our great pleasure to be opening for the great Martin Stephenson and the Daintees at King Tut’s, Glasgow. The “Boat to Bolivia” album was a big influence on me. I loved the idea that a band could be many different things. Pop, Indie, Jazz, Blues, Folk, Skiffle – the Daintees are both all and none of these things. The beautiful and haunting “Rain” from “Boat to Bolivia” will be worth the ticket price alone. All the best, biff x.

Hullo Folks,

Ok, here’s what’s what. Lunatic/Genius Producer Jari Haapalainen still thinks we’re two songs short of a decent album so we’re currently giving the barrel another scrape to see what we can come up with. More news on that once there is any news on that.

At the last home game in January we were rank rotten but we must have scored a jammy equaliser in injury time which has earned us a replay. We play on Friday March 23rd, once again at the Cafe Rio, Partick ( scene of the initial debacle). This show will be dedicated to all those who were unfortunate enough to attend the Rio show in January. We owe you one.

We are very honoured to have been once again asked to open for the wonderful Martin Stephenson and the Daintees. This show is at King Tut’s Glasgow on Friday April 6th.

We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who made the Euro Jolly such a joy to be a part of and without whom it could not have happened. Thank you Willie Knox and all at the Rio Cafe, Glasgow, Jennifer Reiter (Colour Me Pop), Clémence Grange, Emilie Cabanauc et Joanny Davier (Another Sunny Night), El Señor Jose Miguel Garanto (Unpictured), Los Señores Jorge Fernandez, Eva Sanchez García (Minutos Musicales), Gonzalo Bobo y El Palacio de Linares, and to Kirsten, Kirsty and Jane for their patience and understanding. Finally, a big thank you to the people of Glasgow (sorry we were a bit ropey at Rio, we owe you one), London, Paris, Barcelona and Madrid for coming to the shows. The Euro Jolly

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Our first adventure of the year begins towards the end of this month. We will be playing live shows in London, Paris, Barcelona, and Madrid (details in Live section and links below). Joining us on tour for a double bill of pop thrills will be our good friend, the very talented songwriter, Mr Ally Kerr (http://www.allykerr.com/).

These shows will feature new, never before seen, still unrecorded songs, one or two secret cover versions, and maybe some juggling. And fire eating. And budgies riding tricycles. There you are. Tell your friends.

Our last shows this year will be two home games- the gathering of the Indie Pop Internationale on Friday December 9th at Glasgow Popfest, Heavenly, Hope St, Glasgow, and with the marvellous Martin Stephenson and the Daintees at Woodend Tennis & Bowling Club, Jordanhill. Martin Stephenson

Ladies and Gentlemen, many years ago, as a wide eyed teenager, I was lucky enough to see Martin Stephenson and the Daintees play live in the Glasgow Pavillion. My big sister’s cool boyfriend had given me a badge with their name on it so I thought they must be worth checking out. They were unlike any other band I had seen before – friendly, warm, and comical, things that bands weren’t supposed to be. My overwhelming impression was that of a band feeling and, perhaps more importantly, sharing with the audience, a sense of joy in making music. There was no pretence, no fancy haircuts, but neither were they self-consciously “authentic”. It felt like gatecrashing a party and being made welcome.

Anyway, it is my great pleasure to announce that The Starlets will be opening for Martin Stephenson on Saturday November 26th, at the Croy Miners’ Welfare club.

I still have my vinyl copy of Boat to Bolivia which I aim to take along and ask Martin to sign. I hope he doesn’t tell me to fuck off, hehe. All the best, biff x.

Lo siento a nuestros amigos españoles. Tengo que cancelar todos los conciertos en noviembre. He tenido una lesión en el pulgar y no puedo tocar por unas semanas. Estoy muy triste por esto pero espero que podremos reorganizar los conciertos lo antes posible. Un abrazo, Biff x.
